Taking the step to meet with a therapist can be a challenging decision. I aim to support individuals throughout the therapeutic process to feel comfortable and safe. My approach is goal-oriented with a focus on progress. I emphasize a multi-modal approach with an emphasis on evidence-based treatment. As part of Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), focus is on developing better understanding of one’s own thinking and behavior, while developing skills and strategies to improve one’s perspective and functioning. In addition to CBT, I utilize methods from other treatment modalities such as family systems, solution-focused therapy, a strengths-based treatment approach, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR).
I earned a B.A. from UNC- Chapel Hill, and M.S. and S.S.P. degrees in School Psychology from the Winthrop University. Prior to full-time private practice, I worked in an independent school in Charlotte, NC. I also previously worked as a school psychologist in public schools in and around the greater Charlotte area.
In addition to private practice, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I especially love to hike in the North Carolina mountains, listen to all kinds of music, attend local concerts and art events, and travel both in and outside of the U.S.
